The GSN community of students, faculty, staff, and alumni celebrates you as you embark upon the next stages of your career. We know how hard you've worked, and we share your disappointment in not being able to celebrate in person.
Today is a special day for the Graduate School. It is the day that we designate each year for our Hooding Ceremony, where we bestow specialty regalia hoods upon our PhD and MFA graduates. We know that the cancellation of this annual celebration has been hard; every year, we look forward to celebrating our students in the presence of their loved ones. In order to ensure that we still have this opportunity, we happily invite all of our PhD and MFA graduates to join us next year, in person, when we can properly celebrate your achievement. 2021 will be a banner year for us all, as we'll properly celebrate you while celebrating the Graduate School's 45th anniversary.
As you go into the world, please know that you are member of an alumni community of more than 7,000 graduates across all our programs. As new alumni, we encourage you to remain connected with the school and with our shared mission. We want to hear from you, and look forward to celebrating your successes.
We hope that you are leaving here with a sense of true purpose and contribution. Now more than ever, we are called to be in community with one another, even if only virtually. Be present in this moment of congratulation. The world needs your leadership, insight, and ideas, and we can't wait to see what you do next. YOU CAN DO ANYTHING!
